Some of the expectations for this unit are:
-demonstrate that addition involves joining and that subtraction involves taking one group away from another
-identify the effect of zero in addition and subtraction
-pose and solve simple number problems orally
-use concrete materials to help in solving simple number problems
-describe their thinking as they solve problems
This week we learned about taking a survey involving a yes/no response. The students learned how to frame a question to elicit one of those responses. We then asked our friends our question and recorded our data using tally marks. We reported our findings to the whole group.
In our new unit in math, we will be learning to:
-decide whether an event will happen using the math vocabulary "impossible, unlikely, less likely, more likely, certain"
-read graphs and ask questions about the information on the graphs
