We were very fortunate to have a herpetologist, Steve, visit our classes last week for Earth Day. Herpetologists are scientists who study reptiles and amphibians. Steve's job is to protect indigenous species who may be impacted by the new Herb Gray Parkway construction project. He brought a special friend with him ... Herbert the Fox Snake. Just a Dream is a cautionary tale about a boy named Walter who doesn't give a second thought to throwing garbage on the ground and thinks that the idea of getting a tree for his birthday is a terrible idea. Once he has a series of dreams about the possible future of his neighbourhood and the whole planet, he begins to change his thinking ... Last week we had a guest teacher (Mrs. Cowell) visit our classroom. Students learned how to be a responsible and respectful digital citizen through a variety of activities, discussions, videos, songs, and skits. Here is the video that we watched in class: |
